new companion

October 21, 2014

HOLA FAMILIA!

Sorry this is going to be short. This week has been crazy and today, even crazier.
This week we didnt have much success in reaching our weekly goals. Hermana Tomlinson was sick for two days so I was able to get in a lot of studying though in those two days. I have really gained a great love for the scriptures. They really tell us all things we should do. In those two days I really gained a greater love for my companion as well, and now we have cambios. I think thats how the Lord works. Just when we start to get comfortable where we are change comes into our lives so we can continue to learn and progress. Hermana Tomlinson has been a great companion and she will be a wonderful hermana leader. I have learned so much from her. As much as I will miss her I know the Lord always has a plan and a reason for everything.
We are having emergency cambios today. I guess some hermanas went home because they are sick so ya, we have cambios. My companion will be Hermana Hess. Shes also from Utah. So pretty much I came all the way to Peru to meet people from Utah:) My Spanish really wont be very good now either. Its so hard to talk to your companion in Spanish when you both are better at speaking English. Hermana Hess has one cambio left in the mission, so I will probably be in Olmos until January or March (when it is really hot!). I dont feel like I know the area very well or know the people here very well, pero esta bien! Ill go and do what the Lord commands!
We are still working with Katy Torres. Her baptism is this Saturday. I am so excited for her! She is so ready. We have also still been working with Lucy and Max (MA). They continue to progress and havent missed a Sunday since we started visiting them. They have a beautiful family. Yesterday Lucy told us how grateful she is for our visits because we are the only ones who visit her and we are like her only friends. When she said that it hit me so hard. No one should feel that way. We brought it up in branch council, so hopefully there will be some changes made so that the members realize how important it is to do their visits, especially with the menos activos. Really everyone needs a friend! Dont leave anyone behind! Its just like President Hinckley said, every member needs a friend, a responsibility/calling, and to be nourished by the good word.
We have a new lider misional. He is amazing and has already been working and visiting with the Elders. He is animated and has a love for the work of the Lord. I think his help will really help Olmos progress.

I love this gospel! I know its true!
Love you all!

Les Amo Mucho!
Hermana Monson
